1.Chemical Description
Cationic Polyacrylamide (Cationic PAM) is a water-soluble linear polymer produced by copolymerizing acrylamide with a cationic monomer (most commonly quaternary ammonium salts like [2-(Methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride, DMC, or DADMAC). Its defining feature is the presence of positively charged functional groups along the polymer chain.
2.Industrial Applications
2.1 Wastewater & Sludge Treatment
Sludge Dewatering: Highly effective for conditioning organic sludge (from municipal or industrial wastewater plants) before processes like belt filter presses or centrifuges, significantly reducing sludge volume and moisture content.
Flocculation: Clarifies wastewater containing suspended solids, organic matter, and colored compounds by promoting aggregation and settling.
2.2 Papermaking Industry
Retention & Drainage Aid: Improves the retention of fine particles, fillers, and fibers onto the paper sheet, enhancing paper quality, reducing material loss, and increasing water drainage speed on the wire.
Wet/Dry Strength Additive: Can improve the physical strength of paper.
2.3 Mining & Mineral Processing
Used as a flocculant in tailings treatment and mineral slurry dewatering processes.
2.4 Oilfield Industry
Serves as a clay stabilizer and flocculant in drilling fluids and produced water treatment.
2.5 Other Uses
Soil conditioning, sugar juice clarification, and textile processing.
