Se presenta en forma de polvo cristalino blanco e inodoro, es ligeramente soluble en agua y su solubilidad disminuye a medida que aumenta la temperatura, una propiedad \u00fanica que lo diferencia de la mayor\u00eda de las sales inorg\u00e1nicas. Tambi\u00e9n se utiliza para fabricar electrolitos para bater\u00edas, desempe\u00f1ando un papel insustituible en los sectores de los veh\u00edculos de nueva energ\u00eda y los sistemas de almacenamiento de energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n<h6>Sector farmac\u00e9utico<\/h6>\n<p>Se trata de un estabilizador del estado de \u00e1nimo cl\u00e1sico, aprobado cl\u00ednicamente para el tratamiento y la prevenci\u00f3n del trastorno bipolar (psicosis man\u00edaco-depresiva). Es capaz de aliviar eficazmente los episodios man\u00edacos y reducir la tasa de recurrencia de la enfermedad, gracias a su mecanismo de acci\u00f3n, que consiste en regular el equilibrio i\u00f3nico en las c\u00e9lulas nerviosas.<\/p>\n<h6>Fabricaci\u00f3n de cer\u00e1mica y vidrio<\/h6>\n<p>En la fabricaci\u00f3n de cer\u00e1mica, act\u00faa como fundente para reducir la temperatura de cocci\u00f3n, mejorar la compactaci\u00f3n, el brillo y la resistencia mec\u00e1nica de los productos cer\u00e1micos, y aumentar su resistencia a la corrosi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En la fabricaci\u00f3n de vidrio, se a\u00f1ade a las f\u00f3rmulas para producir vidrio resistente al calor, vidrio \u00f3ptico y vidrio especial, mejorando la estabilidad t\u00e9rmica, la transparencia y el \u00edndice de refracci\u00f3n del vidrio.<\/p>\n<h6>Otras aplicaciones<\/h6>\n<p>Se utiliza como fundente en metalurgia para reducir el punto de fusi\u00f3n de los minerales y mejorar la eficiencia de la fundici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Se utiliza en la producci\u00f3n de lubricantes a base de litio, materiales para la purificaci\u00f3n del aire y litio met\u00e1lico.<\/p>\n<p>Se utiliza como materia prima para sintetizar otros compuestos de litio (por ejemplo, hidr\u00f3xido de litio, nitrato de litio).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El carbonato de litio, cuya f\u00f3rmula qu\u00edmica es Li\u2082CO\u2083, es un importante compuesto inorg\u00e1nico del litio.
